SUA provides a strong platform for research excellence guided by the SUA Research Agenda. The University supports the full research cycle including competitive grant acquisition, proposal development, ethical review compliance, research management support, and responsible data stewardship.

The university publishes around 600 publications annually and runs about 120 active research projects. SUA hosts research chairs and centres of excellence which foster interdisciplinary collaboration, strengthen postgraduate training, and attract competitive funding.

The University has significant expertise in climate change resilience, agriculture and agribusiness, forestry and natural resources, One Health and veterinary medicine, education and capacity development, and gender, youth, and social inclusion.

SUA collaborates with global and national partners including the Government of Tanzania, COSTECH, DANIDA, IDRC, NORAD, World Bank, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

DPRTC assures research quality, ethical compliance, and alignment with national and institutional research frameworks.

These research systems reinforce SUA’s contribution to Tanzania Vision 2050, Africa’s Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
