Edward Moringe Campus

Edward Moringe Campus – Morogoro (Main Campus)

The administrative and academic heart of Sokoine University of Agriculture, named in honour of the late Hon. Edward Moringe Sokoine — visionary leader and founding inspiration of the University.

The Edward Moringe Campus (EMC), located in Morogoro Municipality, serves as the main campus and administrative centre of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). It is named in honour of the late Hon. Edward Moringe Sokoine, former Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, whose vision and leadership were instrumental in the establishment of the University. The campus hosts the majority of SUA’s academic, administrative, and research units, alongside specialized facilities that support training, research, and innovation.

The campus accommodates major academic entities including the College of Agriculture (CoA), the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS), the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism (CFWT), the College of Economics and Business Studies (CoEBS), the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH), and the School of Engineering and Technology (SoET). It also houses the Head Office of the Sokoine National Agricultural Library (SNAL) — Tanzania’s leading agricultural information and documentation centre — and the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), which supports digital learning, ICT infrastructure, and university-wide e-services.

In addition, the Edward Moringe Campus hosts several specialized training and service facilities that provide hands-on experience for students. These include the Animal Teaching Hospital, the Textile and Leather Studio, and the Engineering Workshops, which facilitate applied learning in veterinary medicine, textile production, and mechanical systems. The campus also features a Model Training Farm, offering practical exposure in crop production, irrigation, and farm management.

Situated at the base of the Uluguru Mountains, the Edward Moringe Campus provides an exceptional natural environment for learning and research in agriculture, biodiversity, and environmental sciences. It remains the intellectual and administrative hub of SUA, symbolizing the University’s excellence in teaching, innovation, and scientific advancement for sustainable development.
